:page_facing_up: Paper: Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics in Black-Hole Physics β€” Jacob D. Bekenstein (1974)

:speech_balloon: Talk Abstract

How can the second law of thermodynamics survive if a black hole swallows entropy?

This talk introduces Bekenstein’s landmark 1974 paper and explains how it laid the foundation for generalized entropy in black-hole physics. Wang Jian will walk us through the main idea of the paper, its bound-based proof strategy, and why its core insight still matters today β€” in discussions of Hawking radiation, the information paradox, and modern quantum gravity.

All are welcome β€” no background in GR required, just curiosity! See you there. :rocket:
